Recently, I had been to Uganda to attend the PCIA Forum 2009. I could visit a village near Jinja about 100 kms from Kampala, Uganda. People are dumping the charcoal similary as in India in the compost pits, located near their houses. This compost as seen is rich in charcoal. There are many ways all over the world people are contributing charcoal to their fields. The burning of the crop residue is a common practice in Uganda, some part of the crop residue gets converted into charcoal.
